Hello again!

I'd like to introduce you to Ipoh, a small city (2018 population: 670,000+) in the State of Perak, Malaysia.

In 2016, Ipoh was ranked number six (No. 6) in Lonely Planet's Best in Asia Top 10 Places To Visit.

Furthermore, in 2014, U.S. News ranked Ipoh third (No. 3) out of the world's nine most affordable places to retire. Retirees from China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are also attracted to Ipoh. Some local Ipoh residents think that British and Australians will also find Ipoh a good place for retirement. Lastly, the New York Times also recommends a visit to Ipoh.

So, what's so attractive about Ipoh?

Firstly, as a small city, high traffic congestion and hazardous exhaust smoke hardly exist, perhaps, maybe during festive holidays when people from other states visit Ipoh. It has a certain laid-back pace that is welcoming for a better quality of life ... less stress ... a more relaxed and calming effect.

Mountains, lakes and limestone caves add to the natural beauty and spaciousness of the city and its suburbs. The beautiful Pangkor Island is about 85 km or 53 miles from Ipoh and the alluring Royal Belum State Park - one of the oldest rainforest in the world, dating back over 130 million years - is about 135 km or 84 miles from Ipoh.

Ipoh is said to be "the town that tin built" as it grew from a village to a town during the tin mining boom of the 1880s. You could visit Tanjung Tualang and tour the last tin dredge that is permanently anchored there.

Here are photos of some interesting places in Ipoh.
